SMARTBORE HYDRAULIC LOAD WEIGHING SYSTEM
SmartBore Hydraulic Load Weighing Technology
Hydraulic load weighing system technology from SmartBore measures lifted weight directly through the hydraulic system of equipment using one or more cylinders. Rather than requiring a separate platform scale, SmartBore uses hydraulic pressure information and software to calculate and display the load during normal lifting operations.
Because the system can be configured around the machine’s hydraulic circuit and cylinder arrangement, SmartBore can be adapted to a wide range of industrial, construction, agricultural, material-handling, and vehicle-service applications. Interstate Lift can help determine the appropriate SmartBore configuration for the equipment and intended use.
SmartBore Applications
SmartBore can be applied to forklifts, front-end loaders, backhoes, vehicle lifts, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, material-handling machinery, and other equipment that lifts through hydraulic cylinders.
This versatility makes SmartBore useful across industrial, construction, agricultural, fleet, and material-handling operations where operators need reliable load information during normal lifting activities.
Applications for SmartBore Hydraulic Load Weighing Systems
SmartBore can be applied to a wide range of equipment that lifts weight through hydraulic cylinders. The system can be used on forklifts, front-end loaders, backhoes, vehicle lifts, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, material-handling machinery, and other hydraulically operated lifting systems.
SmartBore is not limited to single-cylinder equipment. It can also be configured for machines and lifting systems that use multiple hydraulic cylinders, allowing the weighing system to be adapted to more complex lifting arrangements and larger equipment.
Because the weight is measured through the hydraulic lifting system, operators can obtain load information during normal lifting operations without moving the load to a separate platform scale.
Why Use a SmartBore Hydraulic Load Weighing System?
SmartBore adds weighing capability directly to hydraulic lifting equipment, allowing operators to see the calculated load weight as part of the normal lifting process. This provides useful weight information without requiring the lifted load to be moved to a separate platform scale.
The system can be considered for both new installations and existing hydraulic equipment. Interstate Lift can evaluate the machine, hydraulic circuit, cylinder configuration, and intended weighing application to determine the appropriate SmartBore setup.
How the SmartBore Hydraulic Load Weighing System Works
SmartBore can use Bluetooth wireless pressure transducers installed on the hydraulic cylinders to measure hydraulic pressure during lifting. The transducers send the pressure readings wirelessly to the SmartBore CPU, eliminating the need to run signal wiring from each cylinder to the display.
The SmartBore software uses the hydraulic pressure data to calculate the load being lifted and displays the resulting weight in pounds. Because the weight calculation is handled through the SmartBore software, the system can be configured for the specific hydraulic equipment and lifting application.
On equipment using multiple hydraulic cylinders, multiple wireless transducers can provide pressure information to the SmartBore system so the software can account for the lifting arrangement and display the calculated load.
Simple Setup with Forklift-Specific Sensing
SmartBore is designed to simplify setup by avoiding a traditional calibration process in most applications. The operator enters the hydraulic cylinder bore size into the SmartBore software, and the system uses that information with the measured hydraulic pressure to calculate and display the lifted weight.
If adjustment is needed for a particular application, the software includes a gain setting that can be changed to fine-tune the displayed weight. This provides an additional way to match the system to the equipment without requiring a lengthy calibration procedure.
For forklift applications, SmartBore can use a 90-degree pressure sensor configuration designed to provide an accurate hydraulic pressure reading in the forklift’s lifting circuit. Combined with the SmartBore software and wireless pressure measurement, this allows forklift operators to obtain load weight directly during normal lifting operation.
Optional Weight Printer and Load Tracking
SmartBore can be equipped with an optional printer that allows operators to print weight labels or load records directly from the weighing system. In forklift applications, SmartBore can record the weight of each individual skid or pallet as it is loaded and maintain a running total throughout the loading process.
When loading is complete, the system can provide the accumulated total weight so the operator can give the truck driver a printed weight slip showing the load that was placed on the trailer. This gives shipping personnel and drivers useful documentation to help confirm that the planned load remains within the trailer’s allowable weight limits.
The combination of individual load weights, cumulative totals, and printed records can make SmartBore especially useful in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, distribution operations, and other material-handling applications where knowing and documenting loaded weight is important.
